The Crown Continues: The Art and Care of Natural Hair

Event Purpose: This engaging program aims to celebrate and promote dialogue around natural hair by highlighting its beauty, diversity, and profound cultural significance. Through a combination of keynote speeches, a panel discussion, and vendor participation, the event will explore the historical, social, and practical aspects of natural hair care and its impact on identity and culture.

Keynote Address:

  • Virtually - George E. Johnson - Founder of Johnson Products Company which created products, including Ultra Sheen and Afro Sheen.

  • On-site - Hilary Beard – Author/Collaborator, Cleveland native, Shaker Heights High School graduate.

  • Keynote Discussion Moderated by Sia Nyorkor of WKYC-3

  • Panel discussion including State Rep. Juanita Brent (and others) moderated by Helen Forbes Fields

In an engaging keynote speaker address, George E. Johnson, the acclaimed author of Afro Sheen: How I Revolutionized an Industry with the Golden Rule, from Soul Train to Wall Street, will join forces with the talented writer Hilary Beard. Together, they will delve into the intricate writing process and their collaborative efforts behind the creation of their new book and the legacy of Mr. Johnson.
